look at my light you little fuckers...
had a pretty crazy weekend for the 4th... concerts, ribs, and beer galore... sprinkled with a pinch of packing and getting ready to move out (again).... started off with a cubs game on thurs. which ended in lots o beers and hanging out downtown... then halfday friday, which finished off with some WoW and a concert... got to see angels and airwaves who were surprisingly good... and left me with the quote of the week ("Look at my light you little fuckers...")... then the emo kids of taking back sunday took the stage... the local radio station here (q101) give out free wristbands to everyone at the show, for which i can only assume was to hold back the secret pain and tears that were to surface during the show... i think i saw the band throw out some razorblades to the crowd... their music just touches you and tears those scarred wounds left from years and years of having a curfew up....
the next day, we got out of the teenage emo-hair-in-the-face crowd and we geared up for our long awaited NIN and Bauhaus concert... saw a crazy opening band called peaches which is described in janelle's blog... their next album name rivaled for the quote of the week ("impeach my bush")... since we had seats, i gave in to buying a couple 5-6 dollar MGDs, a $4 soft pretzel, and a $5 funnel cake.... man that was so not worth it... but seeing bauhaus and NIN made up for it... it's still amazing being able to see trent live after listening to them since the 6th grade... it's just surreal, and the visuals they use is just utterly amazing...
sunday was the annual ribfest out in the suburb of naperville... they actually get some pretty big names to play (last year they had david lee roth.. well people who were once big...). this year had the likes of the doobie brothers, reo speedwagon, steppenwolf, earth wind and fire, better and ezra, and sister hazel... i was only there for the latter two, but more or less there for the ribs... i actually didn't know sister hazel was still together, and was astounded when i heard better than ezra's new single... in any case we got pieces of better than ezra as we were hunting for ribs.. they played all their singles and even broke into parts of "what i got" from sublime.. of course the weather that day was turned to vagina, but that subsided when we found the oberweis stand that sold $1.00 lemonades... after sister hazel played their one single i know
(all for you?) we bounced and headed to downtown naperville, which was just pumpin... we ended up at a outside on a deck where we were finally able to score some seats to sit down on... only 2 minutes after sitting down, some waiter comes up and asks for my chair i just scored to give to someone inside... sonofabitch... he offered me a free drink, so i said yes.. only to find out that it was a free bud light... piss water...
monday, we headed back into the city and challed with a bud who was out in Chi-town from san fran... watched some fireworks from hazen's, drank some beers, hit up a bar for some more beers, played some darts, headed to an irish bar where i had young's oatmeal stout from the tap (bombastic) met up with some more peeps (including an 18 year old and a supposedly 35? year old, but that was undeterminable...).. after last call, headed back to hazen's for guitar hero and pictures of chyna's vagina...
tuesday was finally r&r with wow, and packing and moving a few things here and there... currently, we've moved about 15% of our things when we should really be at 81.23142%... even though our movers are coming out this saturday, it's ok, we have until Tuesday till we get kicked out... that and i now have a level 47 mage in wow... we're moving on up hopefully for the last time for awhile.. moving every year for the last four or five years can suck my sweaty but hairless grundel...
